Flower Types and Meanings

Not sure which flowers to pick? Here is a quick guide to the blooms we use most: what they look like, where they come from, how much they cost and when to send them. For the full meaning of each flower and every rose color, read our flower meanings guide.

Most of the cut flowers sold in Metro Manila are grown in Benguet and the Cordilleras, which keeps them fresh and affordable. Tulips and some premium roses are imported, so they cost more and depend more on the season.

Roses

Roses

The classic flower of love. Red says romance, pink says thank you, white says respect and yellow says friendship.

  • Source: mostly local from Benguet; imported Ecuadorian roses for premium bouquets
  • Price tier: affordable to premium, depending on local or imported
  • Best for: anniversaries, Valentine’s, birthdays, apologies
  • Vase life: about 5 to 7 days

Flower types FAQ

Which flowers last the longest?

Lilies, carnations and chrysanthemums can last up to two weeks with fresh water. Tulips and hydrangeas are shorter, about four to seven days.

Are your tulips imported?

Mostly, yes. That is why tulips cost more than local flowers like sunflowers, carnations and gerberas.

What is the most affordable flower for a bouquet?

Local carnations, gerberas, baby’s breath and sunflowers give the most color for the price.
